I know I currently had to temporarily cease my Bandcamp subscription for financial reasons, but I wouldn't want to lose the accessibility and playability of having all your music on Bandcamp. It works so well, and I play music from the app every day. More than I use Tidal, my primary mainstream music streaming service.
Thanks as always for your support Ando - don't worry at all, I still fully intend to utilize Bandcamp for the hosting of my music! I love it dearly too. I am just thinking it may be easier to offer paid subscribers here the download/streaming codes to exclusive albums there. I don't really like the idea of offering a subscription through Bandcamp AND a subscription through Substack simultaneously, and would rather just merge the billing/payment/subscription management onto 1 platform. Hope that makes sense!
I had a similar situation with my Patreon community, founded in 2017, and my Substack, founded in 2019. I resolved it by offering all Patreon supporters above a certain tier level a complementary Substack subscription, which was super simple to set up.
Recently, I had a client who wanted to be a paid Substack supporter, but after ten attempts to resolve payment issues blocking his subscription setup process, he was ready to give up, as Substack kept saying it was his card, even though he tried three different ones. I suggested he set up a monthly PayPal donation, and I would gift him a subscription here. So even this place can get complicated, but ultimately my complimentary subscription was the perfect solution for him, so it was a win-win in the end, and one happy customer, which is what really matters.
I think merging your subscriptions only to Substack is a very good idea, given all the benefits you mention. Sharing more insights of the musical process that way sounds like a huge improvement. Count me in!
Great to see “my” beautiful Lisbon through your eyes and lens. Cheers from Portugal! You’re always welcome!
love these updates, andrew! and so incredible to travel with your little ones + manage to take gorgeous photos ✨
Thanks Cynthia! Wielding a camera was definitely more challenging than on past vacations, ha!

Thanks Carlos! Glad to hear you think so, too. I'm pretty close to going ahead with it.
Can't wait to visit again and hopefully meet next time!
