Absolutely stunning work, Andrew. The way this one came about really resonates, too. My kid is now 2.5, but the way I view the world and how I approach my work continue to shift. I'm also working on my music in shorter spurts, butting up against limitations in time and energy. Other things are filling my cup, too.
I think all the questions you ask are valid - art never really feels finished, and so there's always some question of "what more could I have done here?" But trusting that this collection is just a snapshot, a moment in time - a resonant signal as you so eloquently put it - means that it's coming to us at the exact moment it needed to. And for what it's worth, it's beautiful. The textures and layers are incredibly compelling; it feels cohesive, interesting, and gorgeous. Congrats on putting it together and putting it out.
Matt, thanks so much for the thoughtful comment and kind words! I really appreciate hearing this. It’s really nice to know that someone else can relate to this feeling. I think all of these limitations on my time and attention have been so beneficial for me, in the end - it just took a while to realize it. Slowly learning and adapting to all the new things around me these days.
All the very best to you and thanks again for taking the time to comment, listen and support!
Since you mention it's a pure out-and-about project, can I ask a really boring question, that's not about creativity, or even music tech, more, er, housekeeping: what methods have found work for syncing projects between iPad and phone when you're working like this? Or do you just not bother, and consider each device its own ecosystem, with a project (or a component of a track) just working on one device, and that's it, mix it all later?
I'll admit, to me, one of the trickiest things with getting any momentum going playing around with ipad/iphone stuff on the move is simply the faff of remembering to transfer any samples etc from my laptop, whether I need it to be in the iOS files system, or Audioshare, or what, to get into any given app. Anyway, like I said, boring question :-) Lovely album though (and the Gray Acres one too)
Yeah, file management is the unglamorous but totally necessary part of the whole equation…I’ll admit that I’m not great at doing it and am still learning. But my whole workflow lives and breathes through audioshare. On iPad and iPhone, I record everything in AUM and do a week-ending file dump to my laptop to save for later mixing. It is the best tool I’ve found for this kind of stuff and by far the easiest to use. It gets messy fast if I’m not careful, since it saves copies of all the trimmed and normalized files, but I try to stay on top of it as best I can!
such a beautiful album it's an honour to share with everyone!

Love this, an immediate purchase.

Thanks Jim! Really appreciate the support.
